WHM Pet, owner of the Marriage’s brand, has donated a supply of premium rabbit pellets and £100 of funding to Rabbit Rescue Northwest, a charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming domestic rabbits.
The donation was made possible through a special competition hosted in Best4Bunny Magazine, where readers were invited to nominate their favourite rabbit rescues to receive support from WHM Pet. The reader who won the competition chose to donate her prize to her local charity Rabbit Rescue Northwest.
Rabbit Rescue Northwest operates via a team of volunteer foster carers. and relies solely on donations to provide support for rabbits in need of rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming. All rescue spaces are based within the charity’s volunteers’ homes, and there are no paid staff.
Jess Wood of Rabbit Rescue Northwest said: “We are deeply grateful for WHM Pet Group’s generosity. Rabbits are the third most popular pet in Britain but are also in the top list of household pets that are extremely neglected and often misunderstood, with their care needs often not sustained.
“Every winter, we brace ourselves for the heartbreaking surge of rabbits dumped, often bought as impulsive Christmas gifts, and quickly abandoned when the novelty wears off. With freezing temperatures and dwindling resources, these gentle animals face immense suffering, whilst rescues like ours struggle under the pressure of caring for so many unwanted rabbits.”
Simon Smethurst of WHM Pet added: “Supporting the health and wellbeing of companion animals is at the core of what we do.
“Rabbit Rescue Northwest’s compassionate work ensures vulnerable rabbits receive the care and second chances they deserve. We’re proud to stand behind their mission with both feed and financial resources, especially at this time of year when they need it most.”
