The Dog Trainer School (TDTS) has introduced The Dog Trainer School Recommended Product, a new recognition mark for pet products that meet professional standards in real-world training and handling environments.

The programme, led by TDTS director Helen Wainwright, a former product tester for Good Housekeeping Magazine and the Good Housekeeping Institute, carries out evaluations by working dog trainers and pet professionals using a transparent scoring framework.

A number of currently-available products achieved The Dog Trainer School Recommended status in the first round of testing. These include Tug-E-Nuff Fauxtastic Powerball Bungee, No Fuss Fill SkooGo Gloves, My Anxious Dog –Squeezy Reward & Affiliate Pack and DotDotPet Eco Biodegradable Towels & Conditioning Dog Shampoo. Products meeting the standard can display the Dog Trainer School Recommended Product badge for 12 months, after which they will be reassessed.

Wainwright said: “My background is in product testing at the Good Housekeeping Institute, where I approved products for the Good Housekeeping logo.

“We’ve brought that same independence and rigour to the pet industry, so when a product is Dog Trainer School Recommended, trainers and owners know it’s been proven in real conditions: rain, mud and busy classes.”

Founder and designer of the SkooGo Dog Walking Pocket Gloves Tracey Powiesnik added: “Receiving this independent recognition means a lot to us. I created these gloves with comfort, convenience, and protection in mind for anyone who spends time out and about with dogs.

“They’ve become one of our best sellers, and we get such lovely feedback and reviews from customers, but to know they’ve been independently tested and recommended by professionals who use them every day really is the best kind of endorsement.”
