Inspired Pet Nutrition, home to the Wagg and Harringtons brands, nabbed two awards at the Product of the Year awards.

Harringtons Wet Dog Food won the Dog Food category while Wagg Peanut Butter Cookies clinched the Dog Treat category.

Product of the Year is the world’s largest consumer-voted award for product innovation. Established more than 30 years ago, it is held in more than 40 countries and aims to guide consumers to ‘the best products in their market and reward manufacturers for quality and innovation’.

Dan Reeves, Harringtons marketing manager, said: “There’s been a notable shift in the last few years with pet owners seeking out natural dog food that is easily accessible in their local shops.

“We’ve created an exciting range of natural wet food products, packed full of premium ingredients free from artificial flavours or colours as well as being palm oil free. We’re very proud and humbled to see the popularity of our Harringtons Wet Dog Food recognised by the consumers who voted for this year’s Product of the Year awards.”

Wagg’s Peanut Butter Cookie Treats have been oven baked and Wagg says they are ‘particularly good for training, or just those days when your dog deserves a special treat’.

Purina One DualNature won the Cat Food category. This recipe features spirulina-enriched salmon kibble, ‘demonstrating the appeal among consumers to feed their pets food which includes ingredients and nutrients they are conscious of including in their own diets.’

The awards, which this year saw winners being selected by 10,399 shoppers across 51 categories, identify the Britain’s best-loved products. The 2019 ceremony was held at Sheraton Grand in London and was hosted by TV presenter, comedian and actress Sally Phillips with entertainment from singer, songwriter and actress Pixie Lott.

Mike Nolan, CEO of Product of the Year, said: “We’re pleased to see more premium pet product winners than ever before, proving the industry is introducing diverse ingredients to better the health of our much-loved pets. Product of the Year champions innovation and it’s encouraging to see brands keeping up with consumer demand for the availability of premium pet care.”
