European vegan dog food supplier Vegdog has expanded its range with the launch of its first product for cats.
A protein-rich, hypoallergenic snack made with fermented protein, Vegcat Pure Bites are initially available via web platforms in Germany, Austria and Italy.
The production process, using biomass fermented with microorganisms, delivers a protein content of 60% in a resource-efficient method. The snacks also contain taurine, which can support heart health, and do not contain any animal proteins, artificial colourings or flavourings.
Tessa Zaune-Figlar, chief executive and founder of Vegdog, said: “Having already grown Vegdog into the leading brand for vegan dog food in Europe, we are now taking the next step with Vegcat.
“From the very beginning, our vision was to replace meat-based products in the pet food sector with healthy plant-based alternatives. Thanks to new, innovative raw materials and scientific advances, it is now possible to feed cats a balanced plant-based diet. This opens up completely new opportunities – for greater sustainability and for a future in which love for animals does not come at the expense of other animals.”
