Nine new pet products have been confirmed as the winners of the inaugural Pets at Glee New Product Showcase.

They were selected from more than 360 entries – a record breaking number – across various garden and leisure sectors, showcased at Glee, at the NEC Birmingham last week.

Entries were submitted into nine key pet retail categories and the 2019 judges considered each entry on a range of criteria, including innovation, design, quality, environmental credentials, pricing and retail potential – resulting in some hot debates and close runners-up in a number of categories. A shortlist was then decided for each category, with the shortlisted suppliers then invited to join the judges in the ‘Pitching Den’. The awards presentation was organised and run by Garden Trade News.

WINNERS

– Best pet clothing products: The House of Paws – Santa Knitted Snood
– Pet toys and entertainment: Trixie – Dog Activity Flower Tower
– Pet accessories: Dickie Bag – Neoskin Treat Bag
– Pet bedding and travel: Scruffs – Santa Paws Box Bed & Gift Set
– Pet food and treats: Henry Bell – Dog Gone Fishing
– Pet Health, grooming and cleaning: Trixie – Cat Litter Tray Sieve Mat
– Pet technology: 101 & Co – Automatic Pet Feeder
– Eco Initiative pet products: Danish Designs – FatFace Marching Dog’s Deluxe Slumber Bed.

An additional award for the best overall new product at Pet Glee 2019, selected from all the entries received, went to Dickie Bag for its Neoskin Treat Bag. Scruffs, Henry Bell, Trixie and George Barclay were also shortlisted.

Matthew Mein, Glee event director, said: “I’d like to extend my sincerest congratulations to all those that scooped one of the inaugural Pets at Glee New Product Showcase awards. Pet is a huge part of Glee’s offering so being able to celebrate the value and innovation of this thriving sector has been a truly enjoyable experience. Thanks also to our judges for their time and invaluable input – it is greatly appreciated.”

PAWExpo – a new ‘high-end, pet focused exhibition’ – will launch in September next year, supported by the team behind the annual Glee trade event.

The organisers say PAWExpo will offer ‘a fresh look’ at pet product and accessories. Pet care, wellbeing, premier and luxury products will take centre stage, showcasing brands that cover everything from food and health, to accessories, technology and retail solutions.
