Six in 10 Brits worry they are feeding their dogs the wrong kinds of treats, according to new research.
A poll of 2,000 dog owners found the average family hound would consume 27 treats a week.
Behaving well for a photograph, acting ‘really cute’ and performing a ‘cool trick’ are among the reasons dogs get spoilt, but three in 10 owners will also pamper their pooch if they’ve been home alone for too long, while 16% give in when their pet begs and 61% say they give their dog a treat when feeling guilty about not being a good ‘pet parent’.

The poll also suggests it’s not just dog treats that are getting scoffed – ice cream, bacon and cheese are among the unhealthy ‘human foods’ used as dog treats.
