Rabbit-focused retailer celebrates three years in business

Rabbit Retail, a pet care business focused exclusively on rabbits, is celebrating its third year in business.

Originally set up during lockdown as an online store in August 2020, the enterprise now includes a high street shop in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and a rabbit rescue centre.

Founder Anna Bailey sold her car to set up the business initially, and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.

She told PBW News: “I wanted to create a shop specifically for rabbits. As a bunny parent I would spend a long time in large pet shops looking at labels and checking items were actually safe for my bunnies, but more often than not they weren’t. Treats contained potentially fatal ingredients like seeds, yogurt, honey, sugar and nuts. And chew toys – which are also eaten by rabbits – contained hot glue and dyes, which add no benefit to the rabbit, and can be bad for them.

“I wanted a shop where I could go and know everything was okay for my fur babies. We have a loyal customer base, and our best seller is the Bun-dle Box, a pick and mix of treats and toys at a set price. It’s a subscription box alternative, with no subscription!

“Rabbit Retail is all about the rabbits – it doesn’t feel like work,” Anna added. “I get so much joy sending out parcels to bunnies (many include their names in the order) and in-store customers are all too excited to show me photos of their rabbits – which I love!”
