Retailer Jollyes has revealed an ambition to double its store estate over the next five years, from 123 today to more than 250.

During the last 12 months, 14 new store openings have helped Jollyes deliver total revenue growth of 8.7%, with total sales reaching £169m and transactions rising by 7%. Over the same period, like-for-like sales growth excluding new stores grew by 4.3%.

Jollyes recently released a list of over 160 target locations that could sustain new stores should the right sites become available, and the growth ambition also extends to its ranges with the recent launch of a new own label pet nutrition food range, Optimum Pet Health (OPH), and the roll out a new fresh food proposition with lines under the Tuggs, Dibo, Nutriment and Wilsons brands.

Jollyes will open its 124th store, in Derby, on Friday July 10, with additional openings also planned for Evesham (Worcestershire), and Great Yarmouth (Norfolk) in August, followed by September openings in Sheffield, Seaham (County Durham) and Mansfield (Nottinghamshire).

Jollyes chief executive Adam Dury said: “This was a strong year for Jollyes as we transformed our offer, built our store network at pace and invested in our colleagues. But this is only the beginning – we’re determined to accelerate our growth as we bring Jollyes’ value to more places to serve more communities.

“This full-year growth reflects the strength of our value strategy and the growing loyalty of pet owners across the UK, giving us real confidence as we push ahead with our five-year plans to double the size of the business.”
