The UK’s No.1 pet trade publication, pbwnews (www.petbusinessworld.co.uk), has a new owner, having been acquired by business2business publisher Lewis Business Media Limited today (November 3).

“This is an exciting development for Lewis Business Media and allows us to grow our stable of titles by adding another respected market leader to our portfolio,” said Simon Lewis, managing director of Lewis Business Media.

“It’s going to be very much a case of business as usual at pbwnews. We bought the magazine because we like it and like what it does so we will continue to deliver news to the pet trade through the magazine and website each and every month,” said Simon.

Pet Business World has been delivering news to the trade since 1951 and for the past 20 years has been published by Buckinghamshire-based Pickwick Swales Limited.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the pet trade for the past two decades,” said Karen Pickwick, co-owner and former editor of pbwnews. “We’ve worked with great people, both here at Pickwick “Swales and throughout the pet industry, and have made plenty of friends along the way.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past 20 years and wish pbwnews well as it goes on into the future.”

While Karen has taken this opportunity to retire, her business partner, Michele Swales, will continue with the magazine and website as associate publisher.

“The past 20 years have been hard work and great fun and I’m very much looking forward to being part of the next chapter in the continued healthy life of pbwnews,” said Michele.

Lewis Business Media is a multi-platform media business operating in a number of B2B markets including agriculture and retail. The company, based in Uckfield in East Sussex, was formed in 2012 by the Lewis family and has achieved substantial growth since its inception.
