Reptile care wholesaler Peregrine Livefoods has acquired British specialist lighting firm Faunalux.
Founded in 2025, Faunalux designs lighting around animal vision and welfare, with brands and trademarks including TrueChroma Spot, Faunalux, ReptileVision and Educated by Nature.
Faunalux will continue as its own premium brand within Peregrine, sitting alongside Peregrine’s existing ranges, and the TrueChroma Spot LED range is now available to trade customers through Peregrine. A number of new Faunalux products are already in development, with launches planned for 2027.
TrueChroma Spot LEDs are designed for reptiles and other animals with UV-sensitive vision, including amphibians, birds and other species. They can be used within vivariums or above mesh-topped terrariums, over bird cages, and in larger rooms and exhibits. Each lamp provides a natural, even, single-source basking spot and is designed to work alongside a keeper’s existing UVB and heat lighting to complete a full-spectrum set-up.
Peregrine Livefoods managing director Chris Jones said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring Faunalux into the Peregrine family. TrueChroma is changing the way we light our animals, and the way we help keepers understand what their animals really need.
“Innovation and new technology have a huge part to play in animal welfare, and with the products already in development, we have the chance to change the way our animals see, forever.”
Faunalux is Peregrine’s third acquisition of 2026. In June, Peregrine acquired US enclosure brand Zen Habitats, which now operates in the United States as ZenPro Pets. In July, it acquired supplier Livefoods Direct.
