DC Holdings (Lincoln) Ltd, the parent company of Battle Hayward & Bower Ltd, has acquired 100% of multi-category wholesaler Trilanco Limited.
Family-owned and run since 1979, Trilanco is a specialist agricultural, equine and pet wholesaler working with more than 300 brand owners and more than 2,000 retailers across the UK from a purpose-built 110,000-square-foot distribution centre in Lancashire.
Battles provides major animal health, equestrian and pet care brands to a network of more that 2,000 distributors and retailers nationwide, as well as cultivating its own brands such as Coldstream, Hy Equestrian, Lincoln and Supreme Products. Battles also fulfils production contracts for external brands from more than 40 countries.
Trilanco will become part of the Battles group with immediate effect as part of a new combined group led by managing director Richard Dewey Clarke. A period of integration will follow over the coming months as wholesale operations will be consolidated at the distribution centre in Wesham, Lancashire, whilst manufacturing and brand management will remain in Lincoln.
Dewey Clarke said: “The markets we service are facing a lot of competitive pressures and the combination of these two historic businesses will enable the enlarged group to better serve our customers’ needs.
“We’ve had extensive discussions with the management team at Trilanco and have some exciting plans to share with all our stakeholders in the weeks ahead. For now, customers should continue to order from Battles or Trilanco as normal.”
Martin Balmer, managing director of Trilanco, added: “Having grown the business over the last 45 years, it was personally important to me to see Trilanco’s future growth secured. By joining forces with Battles, we can create growth opportunities for our combined teams, our customers and brand owners.”
