A new range of dog treats has been launched to raise funds for retired police dogs.
Manufacturer Park Life has launched Bravery Bones treats to honour of the work of police dogs, with 100% of profits going to UK police dog charity the Thin Blue Paw Foundation.
The Foundation is a charity that supports and rehabilitates working and retired police dogs, helping owners access the best veterinary care.
Park Life founder Richard Marles said: “We’ve always supported dog charities but, as a small family business, we can still only do a limited amount.
“However, as we grow, we want to do more, and I hope that by getting Bravery Bones out there we will be able to raise awareness of the Thin Blue Paw.
“When I first heard of the Thin Blue Paw I thought it was such a worthy cause and I was shocked to find out that there is no state-funded support for police dogs in their retirement.”
Thin Blue Paw Foundation founder Kieran Stanbridge said: “Police dogs show their bravery and courage every single day when they put on their harness and jump out of the van with no idea what danger they could be running into. They do it all for the praise of their handler and the throw of a ball.
“When police dogs retire they get no pension or financial support, and many of them suffer with health problems and painful conditions as a result of the dangerous and strenuous work they carried out.
“Paying for expensive medication, treatment and therapies falls to their committed owners and, as a charity, we want to be there to help support them and ensure they have the very best care so they can live long, happy retirements.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Park Life and to everyone who supports our work by treating their dogs with these tasty treats.”
