Pet healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturer Beaphar UK is bringing out new dog and cat spot-on calming products in time for the fireworks season.

The Beaphar CatComfort and Beaphar CaniComfort Calming Spot-Ons are the first pheromone calming spot-ons to be made available in the UK, the company says.

Dr Sue Huggett, business manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be the first manufacturers to make a pheromone calming spot-on. Pheromone calming products have a long and proven track record for efficacy, as well as popularity among pet owners, so the new spot-on complements our existing products perfectly.

‘The addition of our new pheromone calming spot-ons gives pet owners another way to effectively calm their pets. For cat owners in particular, this is the first pheromone calming product that has the ability to produce a calming effect that travels with their pet.”

The treatments contain copies of dog or cat-appeasing pheromones, which the company says can be particularly useful in multi-pet households. They are also ideal to stock as firework season approaches.

Sue said: “How we celebrate will certainly be different this year. With pre-planned, larger fireworks displays almost certainly cancelled, more families are expected to choose to celebrate in their own gardens in the days leading up to and following Guy Fawkes Night. Our new spot-on is effective for up to one week, so is ideal for helping pets cope with unexpected fireworks in their neighbourhood.”

The spot-ons are applied to the top of the pet’s head, allowing body heat to activate the pheromones, which provide a calming effect for up to one week.
The product does not cause drowsiness and can be used alongside others in the range.

Beaphar has also created a range of POS material, including a CDU for the calming diffusers and a jack-in-the-box with product shelf for the new calming spot-ons. There will be an extensive digital campaign in support of the new material.
