Cambridgeshire-based pet supplier Simons Rodents is enjoying the success of an appearance at the local agricultural show, which gave the company the opportunity to educate children and adults about how to handle and enjoy a number of different animals.

The company was invited to attend the 119th Gransden & District Agricultural Society show on September 24 and to bring along a display of livestock. Over 250 children, accompanied by adults, came in to pet the animals, including hissing cockroaches, chinchillas, mice, snakes, hamsters, sugar gliders, hand-reared conure and a hand- reared baby albino wallaby.

Although the grooming of the Peruvian Guinea pigs and petting of the rabbits proved to be the most popular attractions on the day, the company reports that its 12-foot python and tarantulas also attracted a good level of attention.

The day raised over £500, which was donated to the local pre-school playgroup.
