Retailer Gladwells Pet & Country Store has agreed a new conservation partnership with Banham Zoo in Norfolk and the Zoological Society of East Anglia (ZSEA).
As part of the programme, which is dedicated to supporting wildlife conservation and community engagement, a portion of the proceeds of every bag of pet or animal feed purchased in-store at Gladwells will go towards the animal care and global conservation efforts championed by Banham Zoo.
To launch the partnership, members of the Gladwells team spent a day at the Giraffe House at Banham Zoo for a hands-on experience meeting reticulated giraffes Mahiri and Zuri. After learning about the specialised care required for these animals and feeding them their favourite cherry leaves, the Gladwells team presented the zoo with a £5,000 donation to kick-start the conservation initiative.
A Gladwells spokesperson said: “We are absolutely thrilled to partner with the Zoological Society of East Anglia.
“Our customers care deeply about animals, and this partnership bridges the gap between caring for our pets at home and animals such as the beautiful Giraffes at Banham Zoo. We want to extend a huge thank you to the team at Banham Zoo, with special mention to Callum Harding and Joshua Hunter-Harl for their incredible support in bringing this corporate partnership to life.”
Gladwells Pet & Country Store operates 12 branches across England as well as a nationwide website.
