An award-winning luxury hotel for cats is doubling up as the UK’s first feline food bank.
Donations of wet and dry cat food plus treats are all welcomed by The Pets Country Manor, in Tarbock Green, Knowsley. All donations will be divided up between local Merseyside cat rescue centres and dropped off each month – or if someone has a particular favourite cat charity they can request their donations go there.
Victoria Corcoran and Craig Hailes, who run the five-star-rated Pets Country Manor, have seen their bookings drastically drop due to covid and people not being able to travel.
“We’re normally fully booked between the months of May-September plus over Christmas, with more than 100 cats to look after every day but, like a lot of businesses, it’s been a very different and difficult year.”
The Pets Country Manor was named top cattery in the UK at the Pet Industry Federation Awards and was also asked to represent the North West on behalf of the Princes Trust and meet HRH Prince Charles. During 2020 it also scooped the award for Best Luxury Cattery of 2020 in the SME UK enterprise awards.
PAWSOME
The luxury cat hotel boasts rooms of up to 400 sq ft, each with its own private heated bedroom, individual playroom complete with a five-tier ceiling height climbing wall of 25 sq ft with either a sunrise or sunset view from panoramic windows.
Optional luxury upgrades were added this year such as Pawsome Afternoon Tea served to guests on a raised bamboo dining table complete with a picture sent to owners, orthopaedic four-poster beds, ipad interactive entertainment, fresh filtered water fountain and a wide range of snacks from the mini bar – kitty tapas meals, kitty cataccinos and holiday cupcakes!
The entrepreneurial couple have also launched a sister company called Kitty Hampurrs.com to help keep staff employed.
This new online business offers a wide range of hampers for both cats and their cat-loving humans whereby customers can choose from a pre-designed ‘hampurr ‘or choose individual items to create their own bespoke one. From date night and birthday kitty hamers to luxury spa days to Valentines Day and monthly kitty hampers.
