Pet food and supplement supplier Pooch & Mutt has acquired gut health test and supplement brand BIOME9.
Founded in 2023 by James Cox, BIOME9 provides a gut health check service supported by a personalised supplement plan. The test profiles dogs’ microbiomes, identifies gaps, and offers bespoke support strategies for the pet. Following the acquisition, BIOME9’s team and operations will integrate into Pooch & Mutt.
Pooch & Mutt was fully acquired by its manufacturing partner VAFO Group in 2023. VAFO produces dry and wet foods, snacks, and supplements for dogs, cats, and small animals both with its own brands and as a white-label producer. The company operates nine production plants in Europe and has subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the United Kingdom, Estonia, and Austria.
Pooch & Mutt chief executive Paul Dennison said: “We’ve always believed in giving pets what they genuinely need, because we genuinely care, and BIOME9 is going to help us achieve a better understanding of exactly what that is.
