Canicross company DogFit International has been recognised as among the best in class of the physical activity sector at the ukactive Awards 2021.
Canicross kit supplier and training company, DogFit, was Highly Commended in the hotly contested Supplier of the Year category, which was presented by Paralympic champion and ukactive chair, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Olympian, Professor Greg Whyte.
This year’s awards recognised organisations demonstrating an exceptional response to covid 19 and showing excellence in the face of adversity. DogFit evidenced the impact of its work in promoting the sport of Canicross and helping to get more people more active, more often.
Canicross is the sport of hands-free trail running with your dog. It originated from the sledding community and has grown exponentially since DogFit were established in 2015.
DogFit’s mission from the beginning has been to make Canicross as inclusive as possible. People and dogs of all ages and abilities can take part and get fit, with the option to Cani-trek (hands-free walk) if they prefer. As a result, DogFit has introduced thousands of people to Canicross.
DogFit manufactures and supplies Canicross sports equipment, which includes a special harness for the dog, a running belt for the person and a line used for attaching the dog to the person. They are also a CIMSPA Training Provider partner; the only Canicross company to be recognised as providing the highest standards of quality and service delivery in their sector. DogFit trains sports professionals and dog trainers alike to teach Canicross and has certified trainers based both in the UK and overseas.
