Monkfield Reptile has launched what it claims is a “revolutionary” new frozen reptile food for snakes and omnivorous reptiles under the Arcadia brand.
Arcadia EvoRx is a compound feed including raw meat such as chicken and is formed into sausage-shaped pieces. As an alternative to frozen rodents, it is intended to remove a barrier for would-be keepers who are disinclined to store and feed rodents.
The product has been developed to promote lean muscle growth, bone health and aid healthy digestion, and its nutrition-focused composition and uniform portion control can help reduce obesity risks. EvoRx has been successfully trialled with reptile keepers.
The food comes in six different weights to reflect the most commonly fed rodents, and is suitable for most colubrids, hognose snakes, many species of boa, carpet/blood pythons and omnivorous reptiles. The supplier adds that it does not advise feeding to royal pythons, as trials have shown a very low feeding response with EvoRx.
Monkfield Reptile managing director Jo Wise said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce a UK first that will strengthen the core of reptile keeping and help to expand the market to people who wouldn’t have considered keeping before.”
