Therapy Dogs Nationwide has appointed two new trustees.
The charity, which works with temperament-tested dogs to provide comfort, companionship and therapeutic support to people in need, has appointed entrepreneur Juliet Barratt and Katie Foster to the board of trustees.
Barratt is the co-founder and former chief marketing officer of the Grenade snack brand, which was sold to Mondelez International for £200 million following significant international growth.
Founded in January 2016 by Eileen Slattery, Eileen Hodge and Mary Oliver MBE and managed entirely by volunteers, Therapy Dogs Nationwide is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, having achieved a number of significant milestones including recognition and referrals from The Kennel Club, work with children and libraries, expanded presence in hospitals, development of assessor training programmes, and a number of charity partnerships and collaborations. More than 1,500 registered volunteers are on the books of the organisation.
Commenting on her appointment, Barratt said: “I am incredibly proud to have been appointed as a Trustee for Therapy Dogs Nationwide. I have seen first-hand the positive impact dogs can have on people facing life challenges or simply needing comfort.
“The charity’s work is driven by dedicated volunteers who give their time to support others. At a time when the charity sector faces many challenges, I am committed to supporting the trustees and volunteers in continuing this vital work.”
