PetSafe to unveil new training tool at Zoomark show

PetSafe is set to launch a new remote-controlled, reward-based training tool to the European market.

The Teach & Treat device comprises a dry food dispenser, training target, and a remote control that can instantly reward a dog’s correct behaviour as it occurs, or immediately afterwards, from up 27 metres away. By immediately and remotely dispensing kibble or a dry treat as soon as good behaviour is displayed, the Teach & Treat trainer is designed to establish new positive habits and supports dog owners to transition from visual training cues to verbal cues such as sit, down and stay.

The battery-powered device can be used with or without an audible tone and its customisable control panel enables training to be tailored to a dog’s specific requirements.

The product will be launched at this month’s Zoomark International trade fair in Bologna, Italy. The RRP is £188.99.

A suite of online support materials is available to purchasers, including a step-by-step set-up guide and 13 training videos led by a PetSafe expert certified trainer.

PetSafe’s Rob Steele said: “Using reward-based methods with dogs makes ongoing training fun and enjoyable for owners and their pets, as well as helping to strengthen the bond between them. Our new Teach & Treat Remote Reward Trainer – and its principles – enables dogs and their owners to practice at home through what is a fun, effective and informative programme. We’re really excited to unveil it in Europe at Zoomark International.

“The key to success here is rewarding the correct behaviour as it occurs, or immediately afterwards. The remote reward trainer enables owners to reward their dog more precisely at the exact moment of correct behaviour – rather than one or more seconds later – which makes for the most accurate, consistent and therefore effective training.”
