Visitors and exhibitors alike are preparing for the UK’s No.1 Pet Industry Exhibition, which opens its doors this Sunday and Monday (September 26-27).

PATS Telford 2021 has attracted more exhibitors than ever before, with more than 190 companies showcasing hundreds of new products.

PATS always attracts large numbers of dedicated buyers and, following 18 months without a major in-person pet trade exhibition, this year offers even more opportunities for business. All the big players in the industry will be in attendance, as well as many newer or smaller companies hoping to catch the eye with innovative products. There is something for everyone.

Other highlights include the New Product Showcase, sponsored by pbwnews, and the expert seminars from leading figures in the pet and grooming industries – a great opportunity to discover some useful trade secrets.

Exhibition organiser Gordon Thomas said: “There has been a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes to ensure that PATS Telford delivers the widest range of exhibitors, new products, seminars from experts and grooming demonstrations…all under one roof.

“Online registrations for visitors are also above expectations as buyers and retailers appreciate the opportunity to meet up with their suppliers again and view all the latest innovations. My advice is to arrive early – doors open at 9.30am – because there’s so much to see and do. You can be assured of a very warm welcome.”

The pandemic put a halt to trade exhibitions around the world, with PATS Sandown in February 2020 being the last ‘live’ pet industry event to take place in the UK.

Exhibitors agree that the return of PATS Telford after such a challenging period for all businesses represents a welcome opportunity for the UK pet industry.

Chris Johnson, Scruffs head of sales for the UK & Ireland, said: “We are confident for a resurgence in the industry ahead of the peak sales season. PATS is an important event in the Scruffs marketing calendar as we look to increase our presence in key areas across the UK.”

IMPORTANT

Rob Newsome, director of sales and operations at Danish Design Pet Products, added: “Our customers tell us that they want to see, touch and feel our products to fully appreciate the quality and design. Live trade shows are so important and really enable us to tell the story behind our products. We can’t wait.”

Many of the companies taking stand space at Telford for the first time put their decision down to the professional organisation of the event and the opportunities to engage with retailers.

One such company is leading pet accessories supplier Ancol Pet Products, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. “The exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to get the UK pet trade together under one roof, and we are excited to meet face to face with customers old and new,” said Ancol’s product manager, Tom Gwilliam. “We have invested heavily in new products and can’t wait to share our new ranges with our customers.”

One of the major draws of the show is the New Product Showcase. This year there are a record number of entries, with more than 300 products to be judged across nine categories. With so many brands eager to unveil new launches, the New Product Showcase has been increased in size, and a new category – Business Services – added to the awards. All entries will be judged on the first morning of the show by a panel of expert retailers with the presentation of awards at 1pm.

There will be more prizes handed out at the PetQuip Industry Awards, which will be held at a drinks reception following the first day of PATS, and both exhibitors and visitors are welcome to attend.

Amanda Sizer Barrett MBE, director General of PetQuip, said: “PATS is an essential event in the UK pet industry calendar. It’s an excellent opportunity for suppliers and retailers across the pet industry to meet and network and it is an order-placing show for many.
“We are a loyal supporter of PATS and applaud the organisers for putting on a professional and successful exhibition.”
