Dorset-based ice cream company Baboo Gelato, manufacturers of the Doggy Doggy Yum Yum frozen treat for dogs, is hoping to attract new investors via a crowdfunding campaign.
The company is looking to raise £300,000 via a crowdfund through Crowdcube. The offer started on November 17 and will run for three weeks.
Doggy Doggy Yum Yum is available in two flavours, Banana & Peanut Butter and Apple & Blueberry. It is made from coconut milk instead of dairy and includes organic agave syrup rather than refined sugars. A donation of 5p from every tub sold of Doggy Doggy Yum Yum is given to the Dogs for Good charity. Baboo Gelato operates six seaside outlets across Dorset alongside nearly 400 other stockists, generating £1.2m of sales. As part of the Crowdcube offer, participating investors can receive rewards such as vouchers, tote bags, free gelato, lab tours, and an opportunity to design their own flavour.
Founder Annie Hanbury said: “We’ve spent nearly 10 years building Baboo Gelato locally in the South West, and now we want to take the brand nationwide. With the super-premium market of ice cream growing 8% per annum, and consumers wanting indulgent treats, we think it is an exciting time to be expanding. Investors can buy into Baboo Gelato via Crowdcube for as little as £10.”
Co-founder Sam Hanbury added: “Our dog ice cream, Doggy Doggy Yum Yum is distributed through a major pet wholesaler and has won many awards including Best New Product in the Pedigree Wholesale Awards 2021, two Highly Commended certificates in the PetQuip Awards 2022 and 2025 and was voted Best Pet Treat of the Year in 2024 at the Pet Industry Federation Awards.”
