Pedigree Wholesale has opened a new distribution centre in Yate, Gloucestershire, to serve pet and aquatic customers in the south and west of the country.
Operations have been transferred to the new centre from a smaller unit on the same business park. At 51,210 sq ft, the new warehouse is the company’s largest distribution centre to date.
Over the coming months, Pedigree Wholesale will increase the ranges and product count carried at the new site and, when it is running at full capacity, it will create around 40 new roles in addition to the existing team, all of whom have moved over to the new facility.
Wayne Kinton, head of operations at Pedigree Wholesale, said: “This new and exciting expansion strengthens our ability to service our valued customer base better. It also allows us to grow and welcome new customers to our business.”
Managing director Gerard O’Mahony added: “Our Distribution Centres are core to the operational backbone of our business and strengthening this is a key part of our strategy in 2022. We’ve committed to building more capacity into our infrastructure to meet the needs and demands of our customers over the next three years and beyond.”
The distributor is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
