Retailer Jollyes has unveiled an enhanced package of staff benefits to retain and reward its workforce.

The new package of perks includes a “Top Dog” scheme, whereby colleagues will be provided with nomination cards which they write and hand out to team members worthy of special recognition. Top performers will be rewarded with an extra day off called a “Cat Nap Day”.

Additional benefits include birthday leave, a “pet-ernity” day for when colleagues get a new pet, a week off on full pay for staff members when they get married or enter a civil partnership, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, and an increased staff discount rate of 20%. Employees will also be able to nominate a family member or friend to get an in-store discount after three months of service, with those serving for more than 20 tears qualifying for a lifetime discount.

The new benefits, which were announced by HR manager Linda Pandeli at the retailer’s recent conference, are being offered in addition to the existing package, which includes discount schemes with a number of partner retailers.

Jollyes’ chief executive Joe Wykes said: “Our colleagues are at the heart of our business – our customers rely on them for their knowledge and experience and love how they support the pets in their family.

“We are building a package of support that reflects the importance of their work and commitment to our business, part of our aspiration to have some of the best benefits in retail.

“Following a great year for the business, it’s another way for us to thank our colleagues for their hard work and help us recruit the best people for dream jobs working with animals as we look to open even more stores in 2023.”

Last month, Jollyes confirmed that it had completed a record-breaking financial year and intends to accelerate growth. The company currently trades from 90 stores across the UK, and plans to open in 13 new locations in the current financial year, including new stores in Swindon, Wiltshire, and Belfast, Northern Ireland, at the end of this month.
