The pet trade has witnessed unrivalled levels of launch activity today, with a rash of innovative new products and opportunities.

From tightropes for guinea pigs to fox poo scent for pooches, the April sunshine appears to have brought an unprecedented wave of creativity to the pet trade.

And a new diet book by fitness guru Dr April Phule has revealed ground-breaking research, which could open up a whole new market for pet food manufacturers.

Following the successful launch of her first book, ‘Ditch Your Puppy Fat’ in 2017, April’s new research on molecular macrowooftrients reveals how pet food can help humans get in shape. Celebrity fitness coach Butch Pawfut has introduced his star clients to the The Dog Food Diet and the book is already shaking up the fitness world.

“Butch has been my trainer for years and knows how extensive my research in the field has been,” April told pbwnews. “I’d started eating dog food when he noticed the difference in my work-out performance. He wanted to try it himself and couldn’t believe the results.”

JAM-PACKED LIFESTYLE

Butch finds the convenience of Pooch & Mutt wet food cartons to be the most beneficial to his jam-packed lifestyle. “The wet food cartons are so much more convenient than meal-prep,” he said.

“They’ve got all the nutrients I need and the time saved preparing meals means more time in the gym and working with my clients!”

The Dog Food Diet is not the first example of a pet company causing a stir in human trends. Back in July last year, Mane ‘N Tail horse shampoo became the go-to product of choice for Hollywood celebrities, including ‘Ghost’ star Demi Moore.

The book is already in the limelight, with reviews from celebrity fans including actress Nicole Pupman, who raved about the diet on social media last week. “I can’t get enough of Pooch & Mutt’s chews. They’re a perfect protein hit after the gym,” she said.

The Dog Food Diet hits the shelves today (April 1) in major retailers and a host of premium gyms.

POO BAGS COMPULSORY

Also encouraging humans to try pet food is award-winning manufacturer Burns, which is advertising for a human dog food taster to try out new recipes and ensure that they are good enough for its four-legged customers. Applicants will have to be house-trained and bring their own poo bags.

The Kidwelly-based family firm, which sells its products all over the world, says the unique job will see the successful applicant paid to test out its latest dog food formulas and varieties before they hit the market, reviewing each dish based on the ingredients, texture and taste.

As well as sampling the cuisine, the role will also see them responsible for suggesting improvements and new recipes.

Made from only human-grade, freshly prepared ingredients including high-quality meat, grains, and vegetables, Burns’ meals are completely safe and fit for human consumption.

The award-winning company believes that if its food is good enough for humans, it’s good enough for their pets, too.

Burns founder and veterinary surgeon John Burns said: “Burns focuses on high-quality, simple recipes which really work to manage health problems in pets. We use a handful of wholesome ingredients such as wholegrains, vegetables and protein to ensure that dogs get all the nutrients they need with absolutely no nasties.

“Our wet food for example is created with a field-to-plate philosophy, including free-range eggs and vegetables produced at our very own Penlan Farm, as well as other locally sourced human-grade ingredients.

“Taste is, of course, a factor, and that’s where this new employee will come in handy. After all, if our food is good enough for you to eat, then it is good enough for your prized pooch.”
