Online vet pharmacy launches during lockdown

Amid the coronavirus crisis, a family-run business has taken the bold leap to launch its online services to pet owners across the country.

Online veterinary pharmacy and pet supplies website The PharmPet Co launched to customers across the UK this month – during one of the most uncertain times for business in living memory.

The decision was made by brothers Neil and Phil Younger and their father, Keith, who together established the business last year. The family of pharmacists have 60 years of industry experience between them, and over the past six months have worked with suppliers to launch The PharmPet Co.

As key workers, Neil and Phil are dispensing essential medicines from their base in Lincoln, in line with social distancing guidelines.

Phil Younger said: “The PharmPet Co has been a dream of ours for a long time, so it’s incredible to see our website up and running and orders coming through.

“As a family of pharmacists and pet lovers, we’ve wanted to give pet owners an alternative to expensive treatment costs and we’re pleased that we can support pet owners during these difficult times and into the future.

RISK

“Launching during the coronavirus crisis could be seen as a risk but we have the advantage of being an online operation, so we’ve hit the ground running. We haven’t needed to adapt our work practices because the only way we’ve worked so far is with social distancing in mind.”

Neil Younger added: “The safety of our customers and their pets is our top priority. While we’re a new business, we have decades of pharmaceutical experience and knowledge to ensure we’re adhering to the most stringent health and safety guidelines. We’re taking this a step further at this time, including additional hand washing precautions and increasing the frequency that we disinfect the key areas of the dispensary.

“As a key service, we’ve seen an increase in volume of orders being placed and we’re working hard to ensure all of our customers are getting the very best service.

“We’re looking forward to the future as an independent, family run business and we want to thank everyone who has supported us so far.”

From prescriptions from vets to products The PharmPet Co offers a wide range of treatments, toys and supplies for dogs, cats, horses and small pets.
