Pets Purest launches pumpkin powder

Natural pet care brand Pets Purest has expanded its range of 100% natural treats and supplements with the launch of a new Pumpkin Powder.

The powder contains nothing other than 100% pumpkin, with no added flavours, colours or preservatives, and can be used as a food topper or mixed with water to create a paste.

Pumpkin has grown in popularity as an ingredient or topper in recent years, as dog owners becoming increasingly aware of its health benefits. Rich in fibre, it is a source of vitamins A, C & E, as well as beta-carotene. Pumpkin is also rich in minerals such as potassium, iron and magnesium.

But the key benefit of adding pumpkin to a dog’s diet is to support digestion, as the natural fibre can help to solidify runny stools if a pet is suffering with diarrhoea, and can also help in loosening a hard stool if they are struggling with constipation, explained brand marketing manager Chris Socratous.

He said: “The primary function and core idea around introducing the product was as a digestion aid.

“Over the last 12 months we’ve seen Google search volumes for digestive supplements outstrip that of joint supplements, which have traditionally always been the most popular amongst pet owners.”

He added: “Pumpkin is not only fantastic for your dog’s all-round digestive health, but it also helps with weight management and immune health. The fact that it’s presented as a tasty food topper means it’s a really easy and convenient way of adding it into your dog’s diet, all the while elevating mealtimes to be more exciting and enriching for your pet.”
