Family-owned pet products manufacturer and distributor Pettex Aquatics Ltd has announced that it will cease trading on 30 September 2026, bringing to a close 67 years of business.

Based in Hainault, Essex, and run as a family business since the beginning, Pettex Aquatics specialises in the supply of premium aquatic gravels, decoration, pond food and reptile substrates, and has built long-standing relationships with retailers, wholesalers and customers across the pet products industry. With the company’s directors now reaching retirement age, they feel this is the right time to bring the business to a close.

The company will continue to trade and fulfil orders as normal in the lead-up to September 30. In a statement, Pettex Aquatics said it would like to thank all of its customers, suppliers and partners for their custom and support over the years, and the team remains available to assist with any queries relating to the closure, outstanding orders, or account matters.

Director Steve Bolton said: “After 67 years, this isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. With our directors now reaching retirement age, we felt it was the right time to bring this chapter to a close in a way that honours everything the business has stood for.

“We’re incredibly proud of what this business has built, and that pride comes entirely from the relationships we’ve formed with our customers, suppliers and staff over the decades.”
