The UK’s largest pet retail chain, Pets at Home, has opened two new stores to take its number of outlets nationwide to 453.

The company, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, unveiled a store on Handforth Dean Shopping Park in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

As part of the store’s grand opening, customers were offered the chance to wash and blow dry their dogs for free at a special station during the month of July.

Pet owners were also able to book in for a free pet food consultation with a trained nutritionist.

The store contains a Groom Room salon and a Vets4Pets surgery.
Store manager Heather Ellis said: “We are so excited to open the doors to our new pet care centre and can’t wait to welcome pet owners and their pets from the local area into store.”
Other facilities include a small animal pet village to allow families to view pets as they play, eat and sleep, and an aquatic centre, with a wide range of fish, tanks and accessories. A Pets at Home Foundation adoption centre is also based in the store, providing shelter for pets that can no longer be cared for by their current owners.

A second new Pets at Home store has been opened at Brook Retail Park in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, offering a similar range of services and products.

“From our family of groomers to pet care advisors, we really do offer everything a pet owner might need to keep their pets happy, healthy and safe. We’re also always on hand to offer any pet care advice, support or guidance they might need,” said store manager Keith Allison.
