A North East veterinary practice has been granted special status for its treatment of rabbits.

Hadrian Vets, in Hexham, has been awarded silver status by the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF).

The award is based on an assessment of treatment protocols, veterinary knowledge, advice shared with owners and facilities.

Hadrian Vets senior vet Honor Etherington has a special interest in rabbits and often shares her knowledge with other vets across the North East by giving lectures.

The practice has now been placed on the Rabbit Friendly Vet List so that owners are able to find a vet and surgery that is using best practice methods for routine care and more complex treatment.

Honor said: “We’re proud to have achieved silver status and owners can be reassured that staff
skills and knowledge are up to date and that their bunny will receive the best of care.

“Rabbits are the third most popular pet in the UK and those who love them want the best possible care and treatment from experienced, knowledgeable vets.”
