A retailer is fearful for the safety and well-being of four loved parrots that were stolen from the pet shop in Norfolk.

Blue and gold macaw parrot pair (Albert and Lilly) and a pair of African greys (Burt and Daisy) were stolen from Swallow Aquatics East Harling’s animal encounter section on July 12.

Thieves used bolt cutters to cut the padlocks on the aviaries.

News of the theft was posted on Facebook and has since been shared more than 30,000 times, reaching more than 1.5 million people, but as of yet there’s been no news.

Its Facebook post said: “Burt has been here for the last 15 years and owned by our manager for the last 30. He is over 50 years old and the stress put on them, from being snatched from their enclosures, is heartbreaking.”

There’s been an outpouring of sympathy and anger on Facebook towards the heartless thefts, and the shop replied: “Our team at Swallow Aquatics thank you from the bottom of our hearts in the help and information we have received and there will be a reward if the parrots are returned.

“We just want our birds back and the longer they are away the more we dread that they won’t make it, especially our 50-year-old Burt.”

Anyone with information can call the shop on 01953 718184.
