Snowy S Clucky Escape

Weird and Wonderful

Snowy’s clucky escape
4th April 2018

A hen has escaped death after falling off the back of a slaughter lorry.

Snowy was found under a hedge in North Devon but was picked up by a member of the public who then called the British Hen Welfare Trust headquarters, based nearby in Rose Ash.

The charity re-homes commercial hens across the country but is rarely asked to help one individual bird.

Charity founder Jane Howorth couldn’t turn her away, however, and Snowy arrived at Hen Central still shivering but soon settled when her feet touched carpet and her body felt warmth from a radiator. A tickle under the chin led to her quietly clucking to let everyone know she was feeling happier.

She is now living a life of luxury and has access to grass, fresh air and plenty of treats.
