Award-winning Welsh pet food company Burns Pet Nutrition has made it onto The Sunday Times Fast Track Profit 100 League table.
The league table ranks the private UK businesses achieving the fastest-growing profits. Burns has been ranked as Number 60, with profits of £3.9m in 2016, and is the third Welsh company to feature on the list, along with Llanmoor Homes and Carpenter & Paterson.
Veterinary surgeon and business owner John Burns said: “Since pioneering the healthy pet food movement in 1993, we have achieved our goal of creating natural pet food that really works to promote excellent all-round health and even manage pre-existing health problems.
“Today, we have an ever-growing clientele of happy and healthy pets and I couldn’t be prouder. It is my dream that one day every cat and dog will consume a natural, healthy diet based on home-cooked food that allows the body to get on with what it does best. That is what we set out to do back in 1993 and will continue to campaign for long into the future.
“We are currently celebrating our 25th year of business, which is a fantastic milestone. Our goal for the future is simply, more of the same.”
John launched the business in the early 90s while working as a vet in general practice. Burns was the first UK pet food company to pioneer chemical-free pet food in 1997, using vitamin E as a way to preserve the food. Today, the family business delivers its brand of pet food to countries all over the world including Ireland, Hong Kong, Spain and Portugal.
