Nearly three-quarters (71%) of professionals responding to a Kelton Global survey for Hill’s Pet Nutrition in the US say pets’ eating habits have changed during the covid-19 pandemic.

A third (33%) of owners whose pet was overweight said their pet had gained weight in 2020 and, while 73% of pet owners said they could tell if their pet was overweight, veterinarians said many were surprised to learn their pet was overweight.

The vast majority of vets say owners should give their pets fewer treats and table scraps and give them pets more exercise, according to a report in US trade magazine Pet Product News.
