Joint winners of the Pet Retailer of the Year Award

There were celebrations aplenty at a packed PetQuip Awards dinner last night.

Competition had been fierce and in one category – Retailer of the Year  – the judges found it so hard that they awarded a joint first place. Top spot was finally shared between Paws & Claws, in Frodsham, Cheshire, and Pet London, in Wigmore Street in the capital. The silver award went to Pets Pantry, in Warrington, Cheshire, and The Wandering Dog, in Cullercoats, Tyne & Wear was highly commended.

Pedigree Wholesale also had a great night, not only winning a PATS New Product Award with the Chuckit Breathe Right Ball, but also being named Business of the Year and to top it all, seeing company founder Terry Brown prove a popular winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hownd pick up Marketing Project of the Year Award

Hownd was a double winner, taking the Marketing Project of the Year award for its Bring Your Dog to Work campaign and also winning the Accessories award in the Pet Product if the Year with its All Seasons natural skin, nose and paw balms. Silver in the marketing category went to Costwold Raw, and The Dog Treat Company was highly commended.

Natures Menu also had a double success, winning silver in both the Business of the Year and the Exporter of the Year. Pet Revolution was named Exporter of the Year, with Armitage Pet Care highly commended, and Forthglade was highly commended in the Business of the Year category.

Silver in the accessories category of the Pet Product of the Year went to Phoenox Textiles’ new designs in its Howler & Scratch range, and Accapi was highly commended.

Gold in the Food & Treats category of the Pet Product of the Year went to Verity & Voss for Oggi’s Birthday & Christmas Gift Boxes, with Beco Pets taking silver in for its Free Roaming Wild Boar with Broccoli & Pumpkin Ethical Food for Dogs and Burgess being highly commended for its Excel Long Stem Feeding Hay campaign.

The Health & Technical Pet Product of the Year was The Motorola Scout Trak GPS system and Pet Revolution was highly commended for its Natural Flea & Bug Repellent.

The International Retailer/Distributor/Wholesaler of the Year was Petpark.

The awards were presented by Amanda Sizer Barrett and Pat Flynn, of PetQuip, at the Telford International Centre.
