Online community myDogBuddy has launched boarding service that helps dog owners find a dog sitter for their pets for holidays or when they are at work.

myDogBuddy is aimed at people looking for high-quality trusted dog sitters that will provide a homely environment for a dog.

“I always felt guilty when I had to leave my dog, Starsky, in the kennels,” says Carl Heimdal, who was part of the myDogBuddy pilot scheme in the UK. “That feeling disappeared using myDogBuddy. I relaxed a lot more than usual as I knew she was going to stay in a safe and cosy house with a friendly family.

“My favourite part was looking through all the sitters’ reviews and checking out the pictures of where Starsky was going to stay. The home I found was amazing. Huge garden, lovely owner’ and they were only down the road from us. I think I got more excited about her holiday home than I did about my own hotel!”

myDogBuddy’s vetting process is in line with the trade associations and dog trusts in the pet market, and the team make home visits. The company provides complimentary insurance for all dog sitters.

Animal welfare consultant and former chief officer RSPCA Tim Wass MBE said: “myDogBuddy has developed a golden idea for Animal Welfare and owners’ peace of mind. Many people deny themselves a holiday or break because they cannot bear the thought of putting their loved ones into kennels. myDog Buddy is the safe solution.”

“The key to a happy and healthy dog is a stable routine and a homely environment,” said Richard Setterwall, co-founder and CEO of myDogBuddy.

“We have built a community that connects people who have dogs with similar people who are looking to care for dogs. We are making dog boarding easier and quicker than ever before at the same time as making sure our dog sitters offer a high standard of care – we are changing the game.”
