Within 12 months, Great Yarmouth Sea Life has passed all the necessary requirements to become a full member of BIAZA, the professional body representing the best zoos and aquariums in the UK and Ireland.

The Full Professional Membership of BIAZA means that Great Yarmouth Sea Life surpasses all the required standards for animal welfare, conservation, research and education.

BIAZA is therefore confident that the aquarium inspires visitors and the centre delivers the highest quality of environmental education, training and research and attains the highest standards of animal care and welfare.

Chris Sturdy curator at Sea Life Great Yarmouth, said: “We are so pleased to be recognised for all our work as this is a labour of love for the aquarium team. This membership particularly highlights Sea Life Great Yarmouth’s efforts in conservation and in maintaining high levels of animal welfare, it is testament to the work done by the dedicated team at the centre.”

As a membership association, BIAZA zoos and aquariums are guided by a number of policies and guidelines, which are reviewed and inspected regularly to guarantee the standards required for conservation, education and animal welfare are maintained.
