Squires has been named Best Garden Centre in the Express Home and Living Awards 2017.

The independent family-owned business with 15 centres across the South East fought off strong competition to take the award. A ceremony was held in London’s West End, with Daily Express owner Richard Desmond championing the awards as a tribute to businesses that turn around living spaces.

Karen Smith, group marketing manager at Squire’s, said: “I was honoured to pick this award up on behalf of the whole team at Squire’s, who always work so hard and provide excellent customer service. We are so proud of all our centres, and we were up against some tough competition, which makes this win even more special.”

Squire’s has always had close connections with schools and the local community, encouraging new generations of gardeners through an annual programme of workshops for all ages and abilities, plus supporting various local charities.

Four centres also have pet and aquatic departments – in Badshot Lea, Twickenham, Stanmore and Washington, stocking small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and rats as well as reptiles such as bearded dragons and snakes, plus dog and cat accessories and food.
