Fast-growing premium dog equipment distributor Accapi Group has recruited Goncalo Liz as European sales manager for its dog travel safety brand, Kurgo.

Goncalo, who has 16 years experience in sales, is a former professional footballer and spent five years at Sporting Club Portugal and two at Football Club Porto under Jose Mourinho. He began his sales career in 2002 after an injury put an end to his sporting career.

Gaining a wide range of consumer and B2B sales experience in the technology, refrigeration, engineering and home and giftware industries, Goncalo’s move to Accapi Group’s Kurgo division will see him focus on the brand’s continued expansion into the European pet and motor transport industry.

“When investing in dog travel safety products, there’s no better brand to purchase from than the one that invented them,” said Goncalo. “I am absolutely thrilled to be working with my new team and look forward to working with retailers on Kurgo’s great category-building opportunities.”

Accapi Group MD Rob Hughes added: “Goncalo has come aboard at an incredibly exciting time for Kurgo. With the cost of keeping pets in kennels on the rise, the number of families travelling with their dogs is ever-increasing, meaning safety has never been more important. With Goncalo’s assistance, we look forward to expanding the business further into the pet and motor transport industry.”
