A European Advisory Board to raise awareness of Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease has been created to help vets maximise disease prevention in dogs.

The board is made up of veterinary specialists from the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium and Italy as well as the US and is supported by animal health company Zoetis.

Board member Professor Emeritus Michael Day, from the University of Bristol, said: “People are usually focused on the fact this might be a disease that affects dogs in day care, at the dog park or grooming parlour, or in multi-dog households. I think we need to make veterinarians aware that it’s much more widespread than that.

“The potential for contact and potential for infection isn’t just in those circumstances, but in any situations where dogs come together.”
