Pets at Home Foundation has launched its annual festive fundraising initiative as it aims to raise £2.2m to support rescue pets across the country.

The charity, founded by pet care specialists Pets at Home, has announced its biggest ever target following the revelation earlier this month that more than 1.1m UK pets are currently without a home in the UK.

Now in its eighth year, the Christmas fundraiser asks animal lovers to support its campaign by donating as little as £1 to help feed a rescue pet this festive season.

Just £1.50 provides breakfast, lunch and dinner for a pet in need, while £2.50 allows five Christmas dinners to be served up.

Donations can be made in any Pets at Home store, Groom Room salons and selected Vet4Pets practices between now and Christmas Eve.
Amy Wilson, fundraising manager at Pets at Home Foundation, said: “We hope our Christmas fundraiser will be our biggest ever and it is so important in helping us to support the UK’s rescue pets.

“Last year we managed to raise £2million which was incredible, and in 2021 we want to take that even further. We’re always amazed by the level of support we get and I’m sure this year will be no different.

“As much as there are millions of pets in loving homes this Christmas, there are also many who are looking for one and, what’s more, the needs of those different pets is becoming more and more complex. The rescue centre teams do a fantastic job in looking after those pets but they can’t do that without our help. Please, give what you can and help us to give them the Christmas they deserve.”
