The RSPCA was called after meows were heard coming from the flooring of a house on a building site in Corby, Northamptonshire.

Animal collection officer Sharon Knight went to the site where she attempted to leave some food for the cat, and she made staff at the site aware of the situation. They halted work until the following morning when they were able to use an angle grinder to dig into the concrete to free the trapped cat.

Sharon said: “I can’t see how the cat could have got under the floor; she must have been there when the concrete was poured on – all the air vents were sealed.

“The concrete had been poured on three weeks ago so she must have survived on the moisture under the floor. She was thin but not weak.”
