Cannabis could cure seizures

Cannabis oil could improve the lives of thousands of British dogs suffering with epilepsy, according to a new US study.

An estimated 600,000 canines suffer with the condition in the UK and new research suggests Cannabidiol oil could reduce potentially deadly seizures by 33%.
The research was conducted at the Colorado State University in the US by testing CBDs’ effect on dogs suffering with epilepsy when used alongside conventional treatment – with a placebo control run at the same time.

Vet Dr Alex Avery, from advice website Our Pets Health, warned, however, that pet owners considering administering CBD oil should always run it by their vet first.
“Because this is a rapidly developing product it may actually be that your vet knows very little about CBD oil,” he said.

“It may be that they have no experience of recommending it to pet owners. It may also be they are reluctant to recommend it or acknowledge how effective it really is…It’s still early days though so watch this space.”
