Dog shampoo business Dog Hair Day has launched an animated video featuring the face of the brand – George, a German shorthaired pointer belonging to company founder and creator Katie Jenkins.

In the film, created by Sociable Planet, George ‘explains’ why and how his Katie developed the range of shampoos, which are produced ‘to high ethical and environmental standards’. He ends by telling us that, ‘Every Dog Deserves a Dog Hair Day.’

Katie said: “We love George and we love this film; it’s fun and engaging. We developed Dog Hair Day for George and this is a great way he can be the voice of Dog Hair Day shampoo.”

Sociable Planet CEO Simon Henderson, who was the voiceover artist for George, said: “Our commercial movies over the last few years have achieved more than 10 million views, a million likes and hundreds of thousands of shares. I asked about George’s character, and from that, and looking at the face, a sound comes to my imagination. It is quite funny what I do, but I love it.”

Dog Hair Day shampoos are naturally fragranced, paraben-free, formulated to human cosmetic standards and pH balanced to suit the requirements of a dog’s skin. Produced in the UK Dog Hair Day has been awarded the Humane Cosmetics Standard Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny certificate. The shampoo has also been accredited by the Naturewatch Foundation and the Ethical Shopping Guide.

The shampoo is available in three varieties – Tea Tree and Sage, Lavender and Chamomile and Aloe Vera and Nettle. The fourth variety, Lemon Eucalyptus and Neem, is available from this month. The recommended retail price is £10.99 for a 250 ml bottle.

“All ingredients and production processes are traceable through rigorous record keeping,” said Katie. “We care about what goes on George’s skin as well as what he eats, which is why we developed Dog Hair Day. Around 70% of dog owners treat their pets with as much care as they would a child and want reassurance that the products they use are both safe and effective. Dog Hair Day is suitable for all ages of dogs. We’ve used excellent quality products, which are naturally derived, and left out the harsher chemicals. No fuss, no frills, just good!”

The Dog Hair Day brand has an ongoing full support programme, including a public relations campaign encompassing consumer press, trade press and a growing following on social media. The company runs trade and consumer promotional activity and profiles a ‘Stockist in the Spotlight’ on its website and through social media.
