More than 1,000 fish have died in a tank at a popular Tokyo aquarium due to suspected oxygen deprivation.
An investigation has been launched at Sunshine Aquarium in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district after 1,235 fish were found dead in its biggest tank which holds 240 tonnes of water and is 40ft wide, reports The Telegraph.
The cause of the mass fish death is thought to be oxygen deprivation, after the stoppage of a bubble-generating tank cleaner hours earlier.
