An historic Yorkshire pub that swapped pints for pets has undergone a £50,000 revamp to create a state-of-the art veterinary practice.
Chantry Vets took over The Mexborough pub in Castleford in 2011 to expand its surgeries and the site has now undergone an upgrade after investment in new facilities and equipment.
As well as a new operating theatre and prep room, the practice has built kennels, upgraded the dispensary and created a new cat-only area in the waiting-room.
The practice in Church Street has also invested in a laboratory for new in-house blood testing equipment, costing £20,000, along with a new digital x-ray and £24,000 ultrasound scanner.
The Mexborough, which dated back 200 years, was once Castleford’s oldest pub and the building lies on a site of an old Roman fort from the First Century AD.
