An aquatics retailer has helped rescue a Jack Russell that wandered into his shop.

Gary Hodgson, of Sixhills Aquatics in Grimsby, said the very friendly dog wearing a lilac collar came into the store on a Saturday.

He told the Grimsby Telegraph: “She is a very friendly dog. I decided to keep her in the shop to stop her running out into the road. I had to make her a lead out of some aquarium air line. All the customers took it in turns holding her while my sister, Lisa, and I served them.”

He rang around dog sitters in the area to see if they could look after the dog for the night.

He said: “I found a nice lady in Waltham who said she would be glad to take her in and she is still with her now. We have found that she is chipped and the original owner rehomed her in 2015, but she doesn’t have the new owner’s details anymore.

“She is all over Facebook but no-one recognised her.”

The dog is still waiting to be reunited with its owner.
