A pet food wholesaler based in Nottinghamshire with its own retail chain has been sold to a private equity investor, which says its goal is ‘to make business better for everybody’.

Kennelpak and its retail chain Kennelgate have been been acquired by Enact, which says it ‘provides transformational investment of up to £5 million for small to medium-sized businesses’. Parent fund Endless LLP focuses on UK-headquartered businesses ‘with a turnover between £10m and £1b’.

Established in 1974, Kennelpak distributes pet food and accessories to other wholesalers, retailers, agricultural merchants, farm shops, kennels and catteries.

The Kennelgate chain has 21 stores in the UK and a retail website providing a click and collect service.

Clearwater International advised Kennelpak on its sale to Enact. Partner Phil Burns said: “Kennelpak is a strong business, with a great heritage and is perfectly positioned for growth under new ownership. This is an excellent opportunity for Enact and I am confident the business will go from strength to strength.”
