Huxley Hound took another significant step in its mission to become a leading light within the UK’s growing ethical dog treat movement by forging an alliance with holistic pet food distributor Natural Pet Products.

From this month, Natural Pet Products has started listing all four of Huxley’s veggie treat pouches: beetroot, sweet potato, carrot and parsnip.

Huxley co-founder Mike Deane said: “We’re always on the lookout for like-minded partners with a strong ethical agenda. Natural Pet Products are a leading light within the UK’s holistic independent pet sector who can provide us with a national platform to promote our healthier treats message.”

Mike said Huxley was set up in 2016 as an antidote to ‘bland, nutritionally bleak treats and a rapidly escalating obesity epidemic’. Backed by the bio-science department of Nottingham University and accredited by the Vegetarian Society, the husband and wife team say they are 100% committed to ‘championing the nutritional benefits of a veg- friendly diet’.

“Contrary to urban myth, dogs have always benefited from a balanced meat and veg diet, however a hound’s old-school anatomy means they’ve never been very efficient when it comes to extracting the all-important minerals and vitamins contained within root veg.

“The business’s commitment to a distinct dehydration process means that it’s now perfectly plausible to nudge all the essential goodness to a place (the surface) where dogs can enjoy full nutritional access.”

Denmark has become Huxley’s latest export destination.
The 30g snack pouches have an RRP of £3.95.
